Details of the Job/Internship
Standard Chartered is hiring a Legal Associate with at least 2 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) to join its Group Commercial Legal Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and validate global procurement contracts, including NDAs, Proof of Concept (PoC) agreements, SOWs, and Change Orders.
- Manage the centralized Group Commercial Legal mailbox, ensuring all incoming requests are complete and triaged correctly to the legal team.
- Support the adoption and implementation of legal technology and innovative operational tools to streamline contract workflows.
- Conduct detailed contract reviews and research to provide clarity on complex language and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in managing engagements with external counsel, including oversight of legal costs and matter management.
- Ensure all third-party arrangements meet the Group’s risk management standards and applicable international laws.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, such as updating contract playbooks, templates, and guidance notes.
- Collaborate with global stakeholders, including Supply Chain Management and Risk Owners (CISO, Data Protection, etc.), to resolve contractual ambiguities.
Eligibility
- Mandatory: Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction.
- Minimum 2 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) in contract legal support.
- Strong knowledge of commercial contract requirements for both technology and non-technology procurement.
- Proven experience in using contract templates, guidance notes, and playbooks.
- Familiarity with international legal systems and cross-border commercial arrangements.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities under minimal supervision.
- A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with high professional ethics and attention to detail.
