Details of the Job/Internship

Treelife is hiring Legal Associate to join their office in Ahmedabad. Their ideal candidate will be a Fintech Lawyer specializing in the startup ecosystem, you will be a key legal advisor, playing a pivotal role in supporting our entrepreneurial clients and investors in the dynamic fintech ecosystem. Your responsibilities will encompass providing legal counsel on regulatory matters, facilitating investment transactions, and ensuring that our startup clients navigate legal challenges effectively.

Role and Responsibilities

• Manage the legal aspects of financing and fintech transactions, including drafting, advisory services, contract execution, and ensuring completion of all legal formalities.
• Opportunity to work on new products in the fintech space and mold the regulatory trajectory for disruptive fintech products.
• Advise on regulatory compliance matters related to financial services, payment processing, and data protection. For eg: structured finance, cross-border payments, PAPG guidelines, AIF advisory, insurance, lending, etc.
• Provide guidance and support to various business units within the organization, with a primary focus on fintech operations in India, GIFT City and other jurisdictions
• Stay abreast of evolving fintech regulations, providing guidance to startups to ensure compliance.
• Facilitate communication with government departments and regulatory bodies to obtain necessary approvals and ensure statutory compliance.
• Additionally, provide legal advisory services for general corporate compliance with a fintech lens

Eligibility

• LLB from a recognized university with 3 - 5 years PQE in fintech space in India
• Experience in Indian laws and regulations concerning one or more of banking, NBFCs, digital payments, financial services, payment aggregation, prepaid payment instruments, bill payments, and any other fintech businesses will be preferred.
• Understanding of the unique legal needs of startups, including various FEMA regulations and SEBI regulations, fundraising, equity structures, and early-stage growth challenges is an added advantage.
• Excellent command over the language both from a legal and a colloquial perspective.
• Inclination to work in a fast-paced environment and develop a network.
