Details of the Job/Internship

Treelife is hiring a Legal Associate – Transactions for its BKC, Mumbai office. The role involves drafting and vetting transactional documents, supporting end-to-end investment transactions, advising on complex structures, and providing insights on corporate governance and compliance matters.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft and vet transactional documents including term sheets, investment agreements, share subscription and shareholders agreements, share purchase agreements, and closing documents.
• Provide end-to-end support for investment transactions from due diligence, pre-closing, to post-closing matters.
• Advise clients on corporate and transactional matters, including disclosure, reporting, governance, investments, and startup ecosystem nuances.
• Analyze and negotiate various legal and commercial clauses on behalf of clients.
• Assist on Company Law, Data Protection, Commercial Contracts, Foreign Investments, Acquisitions, and Investment Exits matters.
• Track and respond to regulatory and compliance changes in India and internationally.
• Participate in cross-functional training including regulatory and finance exposure.

Eligibility

• BLS (LLB/LLM) or BA (LLB/LLM) from a recognized university.
• 4–5 years of experience in law firms (boutique or otherwise).
• Hands-on experience in Mergers & Acquisitions, PE/VC Transactions, and Corporate Restructuring & Reorganization.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in legal opinion.
• Inclination to work in a fast-paced environment and build a professional network.
• Prior startup experience preferred.

Salary/Stipend
