Details of the Job/Internship
VJ Mathew & Co is hiring a Junior Legal Associate with 1–2 years of post-qualification experience to join its litigation team in Cochin, Kerala.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and analysis on client matters.
- Assist in drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Support senior counsels in drafting and court appearances.
- Attend court hearings and present cases independently when required.
- Review and summarize legal documents, contracts, and agreements.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties.
- Manage email correspondence related to client requirements.
- Assist with case preparation and maintain case files and documentation.
- File cases electronically and physically and track case postings.
- Perform administrative tasks to support firm operations.
Eligibility
- 1–2 years of post-qualification experience in litigation.
- LLB or LLM from a recognized university.
- Enrolment with the Bar Council and license to practice law in India.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Malayalam.
- Strong academic background with interest in legal research and writing.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently or in a team.
- Familiarity with Maritime Law is an advantage.
