Details of the Job/Internship

Pirgal Consulting is hiring a Legal Associate – Income Tax with 1 year of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. The role involves independently managing income tax proceedings, drafting submissions and supporting appellate matters. The position requires strong legal reasoning, drafting skills and a solution-oriented approach.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft replies to income tax notices under various sections, including 139(9), 143(1), 143(2), 148, 154 and 271.
• Prepare submissions, statements of facts and appeals before CIT(A) and ITAT.
• Assist in documentation and briefings for matters before the Karnataka High Court.
• Manage scrutiny assessments, reassessment cases, penalty matters and refund-related proceedings.
• Interpret provisions of the Income Tax Act, review circulars, notifications and judicial precedents.
• Maintain internal notes and support compliance and advisory documentation.
• Draft commercial contracts, service agreements, NDAs and related documents when required.
• Guide interns and junior team members and assist in developing SOPs and internal checklists.

Eligibility

• LLB or B.Com + LLB with 1 year of experience in direct tax matters.
• Strong drafting skills with sound statutory interpretation.
• Clear written communication and attention to detail.
• Confident, independent and committed to quality work.
• Ability to take ownership while supporting junior team members.

Salary/Stipend
