Details of the Job/Internship
Nomura is hiring for the position of Legal Associate with 5-10 years of experience to join their office in Mumbai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a diverse range of commercial contracts across multiple jurisdictions including India, EMEA, US, and Asia-ex-Japan:
- IT and e-commerce agreements.
- Market data and subscription agreements.
- Service and maintenance contracts.
- Telecommunications, tenancy, and logistics agreements.
- Consultancy, event, travel, and sponsorship agreements.
- Confidentiality agreements and terms & conditions for goods/services.
- Provide legal support on ad hoc regulatory and business projects.
- Assist the Global Markets Legal team on trade documentation and related contracts.
- Liaise with regional legal teams and business stakeholders across global offices.
- Identify and assess legal risks, escalate where necessary, and recommend actionable solutions.
- Offer clear, commercially sound legal advice on contract and regulatory queries.
- Stay current with evolving laws and regulatory changes relevant to the firm.
- Generate and share regular legal and management reports.
Eligibility
- Qualified law degree (LLB); additional CS or LLM preferred.
- 5–8 years of proven experience in commercial contracts and corporate law.
- Strong grasp of employment law, real estate, data privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
- Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and legal analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; fluency in English is a must.
- Strong stakeholder management, especially with senior leadership.
- Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Organized and methodical with excellent data and documentation handling.
