Details of the Job/Internship
Atlas Transformer is hiring for the position of Legal and Compliance Executive to join them in Vadodara office.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal and Regulatory Compliance:
- Oversee compliance with all legal, regulatory, and industry-specific standards, focusing on the CRGO/steel industry.
- Monitor and assess compliance with environmental laws, safety regulations, and other industry standards.
- Advise the organization on risk mitigation strategies related to legal and regulatory changes.
ISO 14000 Environmental Management Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14000 standards (Environmental Management Systems) and lead efforts to implement and maintain ISO 14001 certification.
- Conduct internal audits and assessments to ensure that the organization’s practices are in line with environmental regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with internal teams to minimize the environmental impact of plant operations, particularly during the construction and commissioning of new plants.
5S Implementation and Maintenance:
- Lead the implementation of the 5S workplace organization methodology (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to ensure efficient, clean, and safe working conditions.
- Coordinate with operational and plant teams to integrate 5S principles into the daily routines, especially during the setup of new plants.
- Conduct regular 5S audits and provide feedback for continuous improvement in workplace organization and safety.
Approval Process for New Plant Setup:
- Oversee the regulatory approval process for establishing new CRGO/steel manufacturing plants, ensuring that all permits, licenses, and certifications are obtained.
- Ensure compliance with zoning laws, environmental impact assessments, and safety regulations during the plant setup process.
- Work with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and environmental agencies to secure approvals for the new plant and its operations.
Contract Management and Risk Mitigation:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to new plant projects, including agreements with contractors, vendors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
- Assess potential legal and compliance risks in contracts, offering strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Ensure contracts comply with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and other applicable laws.
Training and Awareness Programs:
- Develop and conduct training programs for employees on legal and compliance matters, including ISO 14000, 5S principles, and the approval process for new plant setups.
- Foster a culture of compliance and safety within the organization by promoting awareness of legal requirements and best practices.
- Ensure that relevant staff are well-versed in environmental management and workplace safety procedures.
Compliance Monitoring and Reporting:
- Implement systems to monitor and track compliance with all relevant regulations and standards, including ISO 14000 and 5S.
- Regularly report to senior management on compliance status, environmental performance, and the progress of new plant setups.
- Prepare necessary compliance documentation and reports for submission to regulatory bodies.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all legal and regulatory matters related to plant operations and the setup of new facilities.
- Maintain effective communication with external regulatory authorities, legal counsel, and industry bodies to stay informed of any changes in relevant laws and regulations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging regulations that may affect the company’s operations or compliance.
- Recommend improvements in legal and compliance procedures to enhance operational efficiency and risk management.
Eligibility
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) or related field. A Master’s in Business Law or Compliance Management is an added advantage.
- Experience:
- Minimum 4-7 years of experience in legal and compliance roles, with a focus on the manufacturing, steel, or CRGO industry.
- Knowledge of ISO 14000 (environmental management) and 5S (workplace organization) principles.
- Experience with the regulatory approval process for new plant setups, including environmental impact assessments and obtaining construction permits.
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14000 standards and their implementation in industrial settings.
- In-depth understanding of the 5S methodology and how it applies to manufacturing and operational environments.
- Familiarity with local, state, and national regulatory requirements for new plant construction and operation in the steel industry.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate with external stakeholders.
