Details of the Job/Internship
Maiz Kitchens is hiring a Legal & Compliance Manager with 4–8 years of experience to oversee legal, regulatory, and compliance functions across its multi-city retail operations.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Agreement Drafting & Review
- Review, revise, and negotiate rental/lease agreements.
- Draft and review vendor agreements, NDAs, service contracts, and inter-company agreements.
- Maintain a contract repository with renewal tracking.
- Ensure stamp duty payment, contract registration, and compliance with state-specific requirements.
2. Licensing & Regulatory Compliance
- Manage and procure licenses for QSR operations including S&E, FSSAI, Health License, Trade License, Eating House License, Music License, Fire NOC, and Pollution NOC.
- Ensure timely renewals and proper display of licenses at all outlets.
- Maintain a compliance tracker for all stores across cities.
3. Intellectual Property Coordination
- Coordinate with external counsel on trademark filings, renewals, oppositions, and brand protection.
- Maintain a database of all IP assets and track deadlines.
4. Regulatory Filings & Corporate Compliance
- Support statutory filings under the Companies Act and assist with board resolutions.
- Ensure compliance with labour, food safety, municipal, and local regulations.
- Draft policies, SOPs, and internal compliance documents.
5. Legal Risk Management
- Identify legal risks in contracts, operations, vendor relationships, and new outlets.
- Provide legal guidance for new store launches and expansion.
- Coordinate with Finance, Operations, HR, and Projects teams to ensure compliance.
6. Coordination & Governance
- Liaise with law firms, consultants, municipal bodies, and government departments.
- Maintain organized physical and digital documentation for audit readiness.
- Prepare periodic legal and compliance reports for leadership.
Eligibility
- LL.B. from a recognized university; LL.M. preferred.
- 4–8 years of experience in legal, regulatory, or compliance roles.
- Experience in QSR, retail, hospitality, or franchising is an added advantage.
