Details of the Job/Internship

Freshworks is hiring a Commercial Counsel with experience of 6+ years to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including SaaS, channel, reseller, managed services, marketplace, data protection, and professional services contracts.
• Manage complex negotiations with clients, vendors, and partners in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy laws.
• Develop and improve contract templates, standard clauses, and legal playbooks across jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with global legal and business teams to enhance legal operations and compliance.
• Partner with Sales, Finance, Deals Desk, and Professional Services to support efficient transactions and contract reviews.
• Work with technical and product teams on cybersecurity, open source licensing, and AI/ML regulatory compliance.
• Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on compliance, risk mitigation, governance, and business strategy.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law with strong academic performance.
• Minimum 6+ years of experience in commercial transactions at a law firm or in-house legal team.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating SaaS, partner, vendor, and data processing agreements.
• Strong understanding of intellectual property, international data privacy, and data protection laws.
• Experience working with global, remote teams across multiple time zones.
• Familiarity with legal technology tools such as CLM systems and e-signature platforms is preferred.
• Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines with attention to detail.
