Details of the Job/Internship

Reliance Infrastructure is hiring a Legal Counsel – Direct Tax with experience of 12–18 years to join their office in Mumbai. The role involves providing strategic legal counsel on all aspects of direct taxation, including domestic and international tax matters, transfer pricing, assessments, and appellate litigation.

Role and Responsibilities

• Advise internal stakeholders on direct tax issues including corporate tax, capital gains, MAT, dividend distribution tax, and transfer pricing.
• Represent the company before tax authorities and appellate forums.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, audits, assessments, and reassessments.
• Draft and vet legal opinions, appeals, and related documentation.
• Monitor changes in tax regulations and analyze their business impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage tax risks and support business structuring.
• Drive tax litigation strategy and case preparation.
• Engage with law firms and consultants on ongoing or high-value cases.
• Maintain documentation and internal reporting of tax matters.

Eligibility

• LL.B. and/or LL.M. from a recognized law school.
• Additional qualifications in taxation or commerce will be an added advantage.
• 12–18 years of relevant experience in direct tax advisory and litigation.
• Experience in large corporates or reputed law firms.
• Strong understanding of the Indian Income Tax Act, DTAA, and judicial precedents.
• Excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide strategic legal guidance.
• Leadership skills and ability to coordinate across departments and stakeholders.
