Details of the Job/Internship
Standard Chartered India is hiring a Legal Counsel – Distressed Assets Legal with 2+ years of experience to join its legal team in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support legal strategy for distressed assets from early alert to exit stages.
- Advise on restructuring, recovery strategies, and insolvency proceedings.
- Act as a trusted legal adviser to internal stakeholders and senior management.
- Collaborate with country and regional legal teams on distressed asset matters.
- Manage and oversee external counsel engagements and legal costs.
- Provide legal input on asset disposals, restructuring proposals, and portfolio initiatives.
- Support governance, reporting, and risk management frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, legal, and ethical standards.
Eligibility
- Qualified to practice law in India.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in banking and finance legal practice.
- Experience in insolvency law, enforcement proceedings, and restructuring matters.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in English and relevant local language, if required.
