Abdul Latif Jameel is hiring a Legal Counsel – Employment (APAC) to support its Senior Legal Counsel by leading the strategic integration of the company’s global employment strategy across APAC operations. The role involves providing timely, accurate, and practical employment legal advice to business units, mitigating legal, financial, regulatory, and reputational risk while supporting regional business objectives.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead employment matters across the APAC network and integrate Corporate Employment Legal (CEL) strategy into business units.
- Provide employment law advice on contentious and non-contentious matters to mitigate risks.
- Advise on employee relations, including disciplinary cases, grievances, investigations, performance management, and contentious terminations.
- Partner with the CEL team to handle disputes and grievances.
- Support business strategies and projects, including HR initiatives and M&A integration.
- Advise on compensation, benefits, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Provide guidance on data privacy within employment law.
- Deliver training on employment-related topics.
- Manage employment disputes across APAC, including external counsel, litigation strategy, settlements, and stakeholder expectations.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law or a closely related field.
- Qualified to practice as a solicitor or lawyer in a common law jurisdiction (e.g., UK/Australia) and admitted to practice law.
- At least 7–8 years of legal advisory experience.
- Dedicated employment law experience, including both private practice and in-house.
- Experience in contentious and non-contentious employment matters.
- Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulatory framework across APAC.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to demonstrate exemplary conduct aligned with the company’s core values.
