Details of the Job/Internship

Bechtel is hiring an India-qualified Employment Lawyer with 8–10 years of experience to join its Global Labor and Employment Law team. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Act as the primary legal advisor to HR and Employee Relations on all labor and employment matters.
• Ensure strict compliance with applicable Indian federal and state labor laws across all project sites.
• Draft, review, and update HR policies, employment terms, and workforce documentation.
• Advise on disciplinary actions, internal investigations, terminations, and labor authority filings.
• Manage employment-related disputes, including demand letters, litigation, and arbitration.
• Negotiate and prepare employment, consulting, secondment, and agency agreements.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior stakeholders on legal risk mitigation.
• Deliver training programs on labor law for management and HR teams to ensure organizational alignment.
• Coordinate between India-based stakeholders and the global legal team to maintain consistent governance.

Eligibility

• India-qualified lawyer, licensed and in good standing to practice in one or more states.
• 8–10 years of relevant legal experience within a leading law firm or an in-house multinational legal team.
• Significant expertise in Indian federal and state labor and employment laws.
• Proven ability to match legal expertise with commercial business contexts.
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to communicate complex topics simply.
• Self-motivated and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in spoken and written English.
