Details of the Job/Internship

Avery Dennison (NYSE: AVY) is hiring for the position of Legal Counsel - South Asia with 12 years of experience to join their office in Gurugram. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Manage litigation strategy, select and coordinate with external counsel, and oversee resolution through trial or settlement.
• Oversee company secretarial duties in collaboration with company secretaries.
• Collaborate with legal colleagues to deliver consistent and efficient legal support.
• Stay current with Indian legal developments (laws, regulations, court decisions, etc.) and advise leadership accordingly.
• Provide clear, practical legal advice to non-lawyers, linking legal concepts with actionable business solutions.
• Navigate a fast-paced, complex environment while balancing multiple priorities.
• Influence stakeholders within a matrixed global organization.

Eligibility

• Law degree from a reputable university.
• Minimum 12 years of legal experience, including at a law firm and as in-house counsel at a multinational corporation (preferably in manufacturing)..
• Strong background in commercial contracts and corporate law.
• Experience in labor law and technology-related legal matters (SaaS, software licensing, etc.) is a significant advantage.
• Litigation experience is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work across functions and cultures.
• Demonstrated integrity, attention to detail, strategic thinking, and professional judgment.
• Confidence and experience in handling complex compliance, ethical conduct, and personnel matters.
• Ability to influence executive management with well-reasoned legal and strategic options.
