Details of the Job/Internship
xPay (YC W24) is hiring a Founding Legal Counsel with 4–8 years of experience to join their Bengaluru office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Lead legal and compliance functions across India, US, UK, EU, and GCC regions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate MSAs, commercial agreements, partner contracts, and cross-border documents.
- Work with Business, Finance, Product, and Compliance teams to support merchant onboarding and international launches.
- Build frameworks for KYB, AML, escrow, dispute resolution, and risk policies.
- Liaise with external counsels, regulators, global partners, and payment institutions.
- Establish internal legal processes, templates, and best practices.
- Partner with founders on strategy, market expansion, banking relationships, and entity structuring.
Eligibility
- 4–8 years of legal experience.
- Background in fintech or payments.
- Qualified legal professional.
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
- Early-stage startup experience preferred.
- Familiarity with US/UK cross-border payment laws is an added advantage.
- Must be based in Bengaluru or willing to relocate.
