Details of the Job/Internship
Arrow Electronics is hiring a Legal Counsel, Employment/Labor (India) with experience of 5–7 years to join their office in Bangalore.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advise internal stakeholders on the full spectrum of employment law updates, specifically focusing on the transition to the new Indian Labor Codes.
- Provide strategic legal advice throughout the employment lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and redundancy.
- Proactively identify and mitigate legal risks related to worker misclassification and potential joint employer claims.
- Oversee and conduct investigations into employee complaints regarding harassment, discrimination, and POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) compliance.
- Partner with HR and cross-functional teams to deliver compliant solutions that align with global legal strategies.
- Develop and deliver training sessions on employment law topics for business leaders to promote best practices.
- Retain and manage outside legal counsel for employment litigation while monitoring adherence to legal budgets.
- Act as a trusted partner to the U.S. legal team, providing comprehensive updates on legal developments and risks in India.
Eligibility
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from a recognized institution.
- 5–7 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) with a significant focus on Indian labor and employment law.
- Experience gained at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a multinational company is preferred.
- Permanent Certificate of Practice (CoP) from the Bar Council of India (unless transitioned to a full-time salaried in-house role).
- Deep expertise in providing solution-driven legal advice that balances risk with commercial needs.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding corporate environment.
