Details of the Job/Internship
Barclays is hiring a Legal Counsel to join their Global Commercial, Innovation and Technology (CIT) Legal team based in Pune. The role involves providing legal services and advice on a range of commercial and technology agreements, including supplier, client, and partner-facing contracts, and requires coordination with stakeholders such as Procurement, Technology, and front-line business teams.
Role and Responsibilities
- Advise on commercial, innovation, technology, real estate, sponsorship, data licensing, and service activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents and agreements.
- Represent the bank in legal proceedings including litigation, arbitration, and regulatory investigations.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on regulatory changes.
- Develop and deliver training on legal and regulatory requirements.
- Advise on and manage legal risks and controls.
- Collaborate across business functions to support strategic and legal initiatives.
- Communicate complex legal matters and influence stakeholders.
Eligibility
- Qualified lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent in India) with relevant post-qualification experience in-house or in private practice.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience in negotiating and advising on commercial and technology agreements, including software licenses, SaaS, cloud services, data and index licensing, sponsorships, and professional services.
