Details of the Job/Internship
CHG-MERIDIAN is hiring a Legal Counsel with 5–10+ years of experience to support its South East Asia and ANZ operations, based in India.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and leasing agreements with customers, suppliers, and funding partners across the region.
- Provide legal advice on leasing structures, master lease agreements, tripartite arrangements, referral models, and related regulatory implications.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and leasing regulations across SEA and ANZ jurisdictions, coordinating with external counsel where required.
- Support business development teams on transaction structuring and risk assessment for customer and vendor finance programs.
- Advise management on corporate governance, data protection, and compliance matters, including PDPA, AML, and consumer credit laws.
- Liaise with Group Legal teams in Germany and Europe to align local contracts and processes with global standards.
- Manage and coordinate external law firms for specialised local advice and dispute matters.
- Support the establishment and licensing of new subsidiaries and cross-border business operations within the APAC region.
Eligibility
- Law degree with admission to practice in at least one relevant jurisdiction.
- 5–10+ years of post-qualification experience in commercial and financial leasing law.
- Experience within a lessor, financial institution, or top-tier law firm preferred.
- Familiarity with technology or equipment leasing and local leasing or credit regulations.
- Ability to work independently in a lean regional setup.
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to advise senior commercial stakeholders.
- Excellent command of English.
- Regional multi-jurisdictional experience preferred.
Salary/Stipend
