Details of the Job/Internship

Dentsu is hiring a Legal Counsel to join their Mumbai office. The role involves providing comprehensive legal support to various agencies under the Dentsu Network, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, supporting contractual negotiations, managing litigation, and advising on employment, data privacy, generative AI, and intellectual property matters.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to agencies across South Asia and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Advise on contractual negotiations to secure favorable legal and commercial terms.
• Advise stakeholders on consumer protection, advertising, celebrity endorsements, influencer marketing, intellectual property, and related matters.
• Provide guidance on employment law, internal investigations, and compliance.
• Ensure compliance with data privacy laws and manage data protection risks.
• Advise on the ethical use of generative AI and ensure compliance with laws and internal policies.
• Develop and deliver legal risk management initiatives and training for senior management.
• Implement best practices in compliance, contract management, IP, data protection, IT, litigation, and M&A.
• Manage litigation and arbitration matters, including civil, criminal, labour, property, and commercial disputes.
• Maintain meticulous records and correspondence related to litigation and compliance.
• Brief senior advocates/external counsel and assist in drafting pleadings, applications, and replies.
• Conduct legal research, prepare case law analysis, and support opinion writing.
• Keep abreast of legal developments in data privacy, ethics, and generative AI, and mitigate risk for Dentsu.
• Foster a culture of ethical conduct and compliance throughout the organisation.

Eligibility

• LL.B with 8-10 years’ post-qualification experience as an in-house lawyer or in law firms.
• Experience in Media & Entertainment or IT industry is an advantage.
• Knowledge of employment laws, data privacy, generative AI, and competition laws is desirable.
• Experience with contract management tools is preferred.
• Diplomas in advertising laws, media & entertainment, intellectual property rights, data privacy, or compliance are desirable but not mandatory.

Salary/Stipend

Compensation details will be finalized during the interview process with the selected candidate.
