Details of the Job/Internship

DPDzero is hiring for the position of Legal Counsel with 5+ years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru. 

Role and Responsibilities

Contracts & Documentation

• Draft, negotiate, and review a range of contracts (NDAs, MSAs, SOWs, vendor/customer agreements).
• Build standardized legal templates and approval processes.

Legal Advisory & Compliance

• Advise leadership on legal risks, structuring, and strategy.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
• Lead internal audits and support external audits.

Regulatory & Sectoral Compliance

• Stay on top of evolving RBI, data privacy, and fintech regulations.
• Develop internal policies to ensure readiness and proactive compliance.
• Interpret laws in real-time to support new product launches and market expansion.

IP Protection & Risk Mitigation

• Safeguard company intellectual property (patents, trademarks, etc.).
• Establish legal protocols to minimize litigation and external risk exposure.

Litigation Management

• Develop legal strategy for disputes and regulatory matters.
• Liaise with external counsel and manage litigation end-to-end.

Stakeholder Management

• Serve as the legal point of contact for clients, regulators, external counsel, and internal teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Sales, Product, and Ops.

Legal Infrastructure & Process Design

• Build the legal function from scratch: people, process, and policy.
• Implement scalable legal ops systems aligned with business goals.

Eligibility

• 5+ years of experience in commercial legal advisory, contract negotiation, and compliance, preferably at a leading law firm, fintech, or startup.
• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks governing tech, data, and financial services.
• Strategic thinker with hands-on execution abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail with a knack for spotting risks and solving them proactively.
• Confident working independently and reporting to founders/ CXOs.
• Effective communicator with sound business judgment and commercial acumen.
• Agile, adaptable, and comfortable in a high-growth, high-ownership environment.

Salary/Stipend
