Details of the Job/Internship

Dubai Financial Services Authority is hiring a Legal Counsel with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience to provide high-quality legal advice in support of the DFSA’s regulatory objectives. The role focuses on regulatory, legislative, and public law matters relating to financial services in the DIFC.

Role and Responsibilities

• Providing timely and high-quality legal advice on regulatory issues relating to financial services in the DIFC.
• Advising on statutory interpretation, public law, conflicts of laws, and contract law.
• Drafting and facilitating the enactment of legislation, including laws, rules, and guidance.
• Analysing and advising on legislation affecting the DFSA.
• Advising DFSA decision-makers on public law matters.
• Maintaining a constructive, responsive, and client-focused working relationship with internal departments while retaining appropriate independence.
• Alerting senior leadership to potential delays and significant legal issues.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• Barrister or Solicitor with a current practising certificate or equivalent right to practise law, preferably from a common law jurisdiction.
• Minimum of five years of post-qualification legal experience in a highly ranked international law firm or with the legal department of a financial services regulator.
• Demonstrated experience in advising on financial services legislation and regulatory matters.
• Strong legal and analytical skills with knowledge of financial services law and financial products.
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle legal matters independently or with minimal supervision.

Salary/Stipend
