Details of the Job/Internship

Emeritus is hiring for the position of Legal Counsel with experience of 5+ years to join their office remotely. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate partnership contracts, commercial contracts, marketing and advertising contracts, vendor contracts, and IT contracts for India, APAC, and MENA regions. 
• Prepare and update form contracts, including collaborating with Emeritus regional counsel, as appropriate. 
• Provide guidance on higher education laws and regulations impacting operations in India, APAC, and MENA. 
• Train internal clients with respect to contracting processes/practices. 
• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts about intercompany transactions. 
• Work within an increased volume of activity in business-critical legal matters across diverse types of transactions and territories. 

Eligibility

• LLB Degree and enrolled as an Advocate on the rolls of the Bar Council of at least one State. 
• 5+ years of demonstrated legal experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements for various commercial matters based on India, APAC, and MENA laws/regulations. 
• Proficiency in English language is required. 
• Experience as in-house counsel of a global technology or higher education organization is preferred. 
• Familiarity with laws impacting higher education is a plus. 
• Self-motivated, flexible, and efficient working style. 
• Strategic thinking and strong business acumen. 
• Quality-oriented with a focus on detail and the ability to identify and resolve issues independently. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; experience interacting with small, close-knit team members and advising business units globally. 
• Must be available to join the company by January 5, 2025.
