Details of the Job/Internship

George Clinical is hiring a Legal Counsel with experience of 5 years to join their office in Bengaluru.

Role and Responsibilities

Provide strategic legal advice to concerned stakeholders in the Company on a wide range of issues, whether directly or by managing external advisers, including about corporate law, intellectual property law, employment laws (including discrimination, diversity, and equal employment opportunity), work, health and safety laws, and privacy and information laws.
Deliver quality, timely, and practical legal services to George Clinical. Such activities will include the review of contracts, deeds, memoranda of understanding, letters of intent, and other documents, the review of correspondence having legal implications and third-party complaints (and the preparation of responses for these), assist with the establishment of subsidiary entities and share registries, the interpretation of legislation and other authoritative documents, and the review of legal templates and governing documents.
Advise and support Group General Counsel and the Privacy Committee with respect to data protection within all jurisdictions in which the company operates (including compliance), providing legal advice on privacy including cross-border transfer.
Support the negotiation, drafting, and settlement of all major agreements (including contracts, etc.) to safeguard George Clinical group entities' interests.
Advise on, prevent, and/or initiate legal action (as required) and oversee (with external legal advisers) the defense of any George Clinical group entity, or affiliate where necessary, in any legal action initiated against it.
Support Group General Counsel in managing corporate risk including identifying and communicating key legal risks and ensuring risk management processes are followed and issues addressed appropriately.
Manage George Clinical’s intellectual property rights.

Eligibility

At least 5 years experience in a similar role, ideally from the CRO, Life Sciences, or professional services industries.
A demonstrated strong understanding of the regulatory and legal environment impacting an organization in Singapore.
Undergraduate degree in law and relevant post-graduate qualifications in a common law country (LLB/LLM in India).
Current legal practicing certificate, with more than 10 years post qualification experience, preferably including some oversight of Singaporean law.
Global experience in legal and contract management across Asia, Europe, and the USA.
Requisite understanding of the laws and regulations governing health research, competition, employment, discrimination, equal employment opportunity, diversity, work, health and safety, and privacy.
Demonstrated strong legal analysis skills; proven ability to decipher and apply legislation, regulations, and government policy; excellent drafting skills and attention to detail; strong initiative and accountability.
Native level proficiency in verbal and written English and additional languages highly regarded especially Chinese (Mandarin).
