Hitachi Energy is hiring a Legal Counsel with 6+ years of legal experience to join their Legal & Integrity team in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, interpret, and advise on legal documents to achieve commercial outcomes while mitigating risks.
- Provide legal advice on matters including contracts, real estate, litigation, compliance, antitrust, intellectual property, labor law, governance, and ethics.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal business teams and supply chain functions.
- Review third-party policies and documents to ensure compliance.
- Conduct legal research and interpret statutes and regulations.
- Advise on claims liability, disputes, and litigation matters; coordinate with external advisors as required.
- Support business units in managing contractual claims and dispute resolution.
- Oversee legal matters related to factory locations.
- Draft and review RFQs, PQQs, tenders, risk reviews, framework agreements, and settlements.
- Plan and deliver legal training for business teams.
- Promote compliance with internal directives and applicable laws, acting as a role model for integrity and ethics.
- Monitor legal affairs including litigation and reporting.
- Facilitate best practice sharing and harmonized processes across the organization.
Eligibility
- Bachelor of Laws from a leading Indian university; Master of Laws preferred.
- Minimum 6 years of experience as in-house counsel or legal practitioner handling major utilities, construction, or engineering projects.
- Strong background in complex international corporate and commercial transactions, claims, and litigation.
- Experience with large-scale project contracts, utilities, or engineering projects.
- Knowledge of FIDIC, government and commercial contracting practices, and construction industry regulations.
- Strong negotiation, drafting, and settlement expertise.
- Business-minded, solution-oriented, with leadership skills and the ability to influence across levels.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
