HSBC is hiring a Legal Counsel with 8–10 years of experience to join its Legal team in Bengaluru. The role involves assisting the onshore Senior Transaction Manager with all aspects of loan execution and advising on transaction structures within the banking and financial services sector.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assist in all aspects of loan execution and advisory on transaction structures.
- Draft and review term sheets, facility agreements, release letters, fee letters, legal opinions, and related documentation.
- Advise stakeholders on commercial and legal risks in complex loan transactions.
- Negotiate key terms in LMA facility agreements ensuring compliance with HSBC policy and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in multi-party discussions on legal and policy matters.
- Lead, mentor, and support team members, fostering a collaborative work culture.
- Allocate work, monitor performance, and ensure timely, high-quality deliverables.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and development of team members.
- Ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and regulatory obligations.
- Engage in continuous learning and training to enhance professional development.
Eligibility
- Legal qualification with 8–10 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex credit and lending documentation, including facility and security agreements.
- Comprehensive knowledge of credit and lending laws, regulations, and practices.
- Prior experience in people leadership or team management roles preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
