Details of the Job/Internship

IDFC FIRST Bank is hiring a Legal Counsel with experience of 2–5 years to join their office in Mumbai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice to business groups on banking operations in coordination with the Head – Wholesale Banking Legal.
• Demonstrate knowledge of banking products including term loans, working capital loans, consortium and multiple banking arrangements, and security documentation.
• Stay updated on regulatory frameworks such as stamp duty, project finance, and transaction banking services including cash management, bank guarantees, SBLCs, and escrow arrangements.
• Advise business teams on strategies aligned with the bank’s vision and corporate goals.
• Support corporate clients, conglomerates, debt syndication, transaction banking, trade finance, documentation, and operations teams in closing transactions efficiently.
• Review strategic contractual documents and assist in resolving contractual disputes.
• Provide accurate legal advice on transactional matters.
• Monitor statutory obligations and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
• Address customer and legal escalations and regulatory issues.
• Develop and update legal manuals and procedures relevant to the banking group.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) is mandatory, with an LL.M or related postgraduate qualification preferred.
• Candidates should have 2 to 5 years of relevant legal experience, strong legal research and analytical skills, excellent written and verbal communication, proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents, knowledge of banking regulations and financial products, attention to detail, stakeholder management ability, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
