Details of the Job/Internship

IDFC FIRST Bank is hiring a Legal Counsel to support the Legal Department in Mumbai. The role involves guiding internal stakeholders on legal risks and mitigants while entering into partnerships and ventures, and safeguarding the bank’s interests during documentation, execution, and post-execution processes. The position requires hands-on experience in drafting and negotiating IT and service-related contracts.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate IT, technology, and service-related agreements, including software licences, SaaS, PaaS, on-premise licences, hardware procurement agreements, master service IT agreements, data processing agreements, API integration agreements, information security agreements, data centre agreements, UPI agreements, BBPS agreements, FIP/FIU agreements, business correspondent agreements, memoranda of understanding, NDAs, referral agreements, and other related contracts.
• Guide internal stakeholders on legal risks, mitigants, and compliance while entering partnerships and ventures.
• Collaborate with compliance, risk, TPRM, procurement, and IT teams on legal issues.
• Update internal policies and procedures for contract management.
• Monitor regulatory, judicial, and policy changes and provide timely updates.
• Coordinate with external advisors on resolution of complex legal issues.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law from a recognised university.
• 5–10 years of total professional experience.
• Proven experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts.
• Deep understanding of banking regulations and compliance requirements.
• Strong legal research, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
• Competence in analysing and interpreting complex IT contracts.
