Details of the Job/Internship

Imerys is hiring a Legal Counsel with experience of 6–8 years to join their office in Hyderabad.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely legal counsel on contractual, regulatory, and risk matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, GTCs, NDAs, MOUs, and other agreements.
• Develop and update contract templates as per local requirements.
• Manage disputes, pre-litigation, litigation, and arbitration matters.
• Liaise with and supervise external counsel and coordinate litigation strategy.
• Assist with insurance claims and coordinate with brokers and the Group Insurance Department.
• Act as a compliance point of contact and assist in implementing group compliance programs.
• Oversee corporate governance and coordinate with company secretaries and compliance service providers across South Asia.
• Support corporate aspects of acquisitions, restructuring, and creation of new entities.
• Assist the General Counsel, Asia Pacific region with corporate restructuring projects and other assignments.

Eligibility

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in law from a reputable law school.
• Bar qualification in India or other commonwealth countries is a plus.
• 6 to 8 years of broad-based commercial legal experience in private practice or in-house.
• Work experience in an industrial MNC is preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of Indian corporate and commercial laws.
• Strong legal and strategic judgment with business partnering skills.
• High level of integrity, meticulous, and quick learner.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business advice.
• Fluency in business and legal English. Other language skills are a plus.
