Details of the Job/Internship
IPHORIZONS is hiring an Intellectual Property (IP) Legal Counsel with 1–2 years of experience.
Role and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with patent attorneys, patent agents, subject matter experts, IPO, USPTO, foreign associates, and staff.
- Extract relevant information from IPO and USPTO databases and correspondence.
- Maintain and review dockets.
- Maintain IP records and ensure they remain up to date.
- Monitor the filing status of patent applications.
- Prepare and file legal documents with IPO and USPTO, primarily through electronic filing systems.
- Track due dates through docketing systems and matter management tools.
- Coordinate with attorneys and staff to ensure deadlines are met.
- Communicate with attorneys and clients regarding upcoming deadlines.
- Review incoming correspondence from patent offices and foreign counsel, update deadlines, and follow up as required.
- Oversee execution and legalization of documents for submission in IP matters.
- Prepare client reports and prosecution documents.
- Open new matters for tracking purposes.
- Assist patent administrators in special projects when required.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law with specialization in Intellectual Property Law.
- 1–2 years of work experience.
- Proficiency in legal terminology and electronic databases.
- Strong ability to track records and deadlines.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong written and oral communication skills for working with domestic and international clients.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new material.
- Flexible and efficient work practices.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Salary/Stipend
