Details of the Job/Internship

James Walker Group is hiring a Legal Counsel to join its global legal team in Mumbai. This role will report to the Head of Legal and Commercial Contracts based in the UK and will work closely with him to support sales, procurement, compliance, and other business functions.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to sales and procurement functions globally.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of manufacturing, procurement, sales, and other business-related contracts.
• Draft guidelines, policies, and templates.
• Advise on contentious matters, including managing external counsel and negotiating settlements.
• Provide legal support on compliance matters, including GDPR, anti-bribery, sanctions, export control, and modern slavery.
• Support product engineering, technology, marketing, and IP teams.
• Assist in the further development of the Legal Department and promote best practices.
• Provide training to business teams on legal issues.

Eligibility

• Qualified lawyer in India or a common law jurisdiction with a basic understanding of English law.
• 2–5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Working knowledge of intellectual property, GDPR/privacy, export control and sanctions laws, anti-bribery, and modern slavery.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
• Experience in legal research and providing pragmatic legal advice.

Salary/Stipend
