Details of the Job/Internship
James Walker Group is hiring a Legal Counsel with 2–5 years of post-qualification experience to join their office in Mumbai and support global legal operations across departments including sales, procurement, engineering, and marketing.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide legal support to global sales and procurement teams.
- Advise and conduct legal research on applicable laws and regulations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate business-related contracts.
- Draft policies, guidelines, and templates.
- Advise on contentious matters, manage external counsel, and negotiate settlements.
- Support compliance matters including GDPR/privacy, anti-bribery, sanctions, and export control.
- Liaise with legal team members and support legal department development.
- Assist in training business teams on legal issues.
Eligibility
- Qualified Lawyer in India or a common law jurisdiction with a basic understanding of English Law.
- 2–5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in legal drafting, negotiation, and legal research.
- Working knowledge of intellectual property, GDPR/privacy, export control, sanctions laws, anti-bribery, and modern slavery.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience in-house or advising engineering clients is helpful.
