Details of the Job/Internship

JPMorganChase is hiring a Legal Counsel - Corporate & Investment Bank – Payments Associate with 4 years PQE to join their office in Mumbai. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal support and advice to Payments businesses across APAC and EMEA on transactional matters.
• Review, negotiate, draft, and finalize contracts with the Bank’s borrowers, customers, and partner banks.
• Advise on new technology products such as stablecoins, digital assets, and virtual accounts.
• Support trade finance facilities including letters of credit, guarantees, and supply chain finance.
• Liaise and coordinate with regional and global legal colleagues on cross-border projects.
• Manage and instruct outside counsel on specialized legal matters.
• Contribute to operational projects aimed at increasing the efficiency and scalability of legal support.
• Coordinate with business partners to address legal issues in merchant acquiring and allied services.

Eligibility

• Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification legal experience (PQE).
• Experience in cash management, liquidity, e-commerce, or financial market infrastructure.
• Familiarity with credit transactions, supply chain finance, factoring, and receivables purchase.
• Knowledge of ICC Uniform Practices (UCP 600) and merchant acquiring processes.
• Strong legal analytical, drafting, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and cross-jurisdictional team.
• Proactive approach to prioritizing business goals and responding to urgent needs.
