Details of the Job/Internship
Kwalee is hiring a commercially focused Legal Counsel to join its Bangalore studio, working on-site five days per week. The role is part of Kwalee’s Legal team and involves working in a fast-paced, in-house environment with a strong focus on managing commercial contracts, intellectual property protection, and general legal matters across the organisation.
Role and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage commercial contracts between Kwalee and external partners.
- Oversee Kwalee’s intellectual property and protect it against infringements.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of all legal takedown activities.
- Identify and investigate games or works that infringe Kwalee’s IP.
- Coordinate with internal and external lawyers, platform holders, and stores to issue cease and desist notices and take down infringing content.
- Build strong working relationships with internal development teams and third-party publishing teams to support infringement actions.
- Manage and supervise research staff assigned to identify infringing works.
- Manage Kwalee’s trademarks and define strategies for additional trademarks.
- Assist with all legal matters and agreements in coordination with external legal partners.
- Conduct legal due diligence on internally developed and externally acquired games.
- Support the defence of Kwalee against legal claims relating to infringement, trademarks, and patents.
- Stay updated on laws relevant to the business, particularly IP, trademarks, and patents.
- Present key legal findings to management and relevant stakeholders.
- Provide legal advice and support as required by the business.
Eligibility
- Proven experience as an in-house counsel, preferably in a high-growth or fast-paced environment.
- Experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing a wide range of commercial agreements.
- Strong understanding of intellectual property law, with practical experience in IP protection.
- Qualified legal professional with a degree in Law.
Salary/Stipend
