Details of the Job/Internship
Majid Al Futtaim is currently seeking a Legal Counsel with 6+ years of experience to join their team in Gurugram. As a leading pioneer in shopping malls, communities, retail, and leisure across the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, Majid Al Futtaim is committed to upholding the highest legal standards and compliance.
Role and Responsibilities
Contracts:
- Draft contracts, agreements, letters and notifications as required in a timely manner and ensuring that they are compliant with internal standards and legal requirements, with a focus on technology, e-commerce, digital and marketing
- Liaise with business, operational and technical stakeholders to procure relevant information to prepare tailored contracts and assess risks
Legal Advice:
- Advising on various commercial, contractual and business matters, with a focus on law and regulations relating to intellectual property, e-commerce and data privacy
Regulatory Compliance:
- Proactively identifying issues and risks and advising on relevant laws and regulations with a focus on the e-commerce and digital business
Legal Due Diligence and Claims:
- Provide support when advising concerning business transactions, claim liability, advisability of prosecuting or defending lawsuits, or legal rights and obligations
- Support the development of strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
Legal Research and Evaluation:
- Support research on laws, rulings and regulations to safeguard and legally protect business operations
- Gather evidence to formulate defence or to initiate legal actions, by such means as interviewing clients and witnesses to ascertain the facts of a case
- Support the development of strategies and arguments in preparation for presentation of cases
- Research the probable outcomes of cases, using knowledge of legal precedents and research
- Keep abreast of the changes to laws and regulations of the region, monitor legal publications and study the new trends related to legal practices and their impact on the current scenario
Legal Policies and Procedures:
- Research policies for legal correctness with a view to provide legal advice in relation to the drafting of contracts/policies
- Ensure necessary law applications to protect the organization in conjunction with allowing for commercial advantages
- Develop reports on internal legal process is followed and tasks are completed within the deadlines
- Report any actions or omissions that might interfere with the operations or policies of the company
Eligibility
Experience Required:
- 6+ years' legal experience including in-house roles, preferably with 2+ years in retail experience
- Experience of technology, media and telecommunications industry or related work strongly preferred
- Exposure to the Middle East and GCC markets desirable
Minimum Qualifications/education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Law
