Marriott International is hiring a Legal Counsel – Compliance and Privacy with 3+ years of experience to join their office in Gurgaon.
Role and Responsibilities
- Provide legal support for the company’s Ethics and Global Compliance programs, including anti-corruption, anti-bribery, sanctions, competition, and anti-money laundering matters.
- Support the Global Compliance Officer, Internal Audit Department, and APEC Legal and Ethical Compliance Committee (LECC).
- Develop agendas, materials, and reports for compliance governance meetings.
- Lead or guide internal investigations into FCPA, commercial bribery, and ethical concerns.
- Provide legal and tactical advice to auditors, investigators, and HR managers.
- Develop and deliver legal compliance and ethics training across the region.
- Monitor and analyze legal and regulatory developments related to compliance, privacy, and data protection.
- Support the company’s Privacy & Information Security Continent Committee and related governance groups.
- Conduct legal research and regulatory analysis on privacy laws across APEC.
- Manage gap assessments, remediation, and compliance initiatives in data protection.
- Draft and review contracts and policies to ensure alignment with privacy and data protection requirements.
- Provide legal advice on data incidents, investigations, and regulatory interactions.
- Collaborate with global privacy and information security teams to enhance incident response planning.
Eligibility
- Law degree from an accredited institution with excellent academic record.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Active Bar membership or valid practicing certificate.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: anti-bribery and corruption, trade sanctions, competition law, or data protection.
- Strong analytical, drafting, and communication skills in English.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal and consultative abilities with a diplomatic approach.
- Strong leadership, ethical integrity, and problem-solving skills.
- Flexibility to travel.
Salary/Stipend
