McDermott International, Ltd is hiring a Legal Counsel with 5–10 years of experience for its Gurgaon office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Align with the strategic vision of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Sustainability & Governance (S&G) teams.
- Oversee and manage Indian project-related claims, coordinating with Legal & Contracts Management teams.
- Develop and implement proactive legal policies to mitigate risks and safeguard the organization.
- Draft and incorporate prime contract flow-down requirements into vendor subcontracts, purchase orders, or existing MSAs.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and approve vendor purchase orders, supply orders, and subcontracts.
- Advise and support project managers and operations teams on vendor agreements with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Provide legal guidance and project management support throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Collaborate with the S&G and SCM teams to identify and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
- Expand expertise and contracting knowledge within the SCM function.
- Work alongside SCM leadership to establish standardized vendor contracting processes across the global organization.
- Design and conduct training programs on supply chain contracts for SCM and contracts professionals.
- Assist the Legal Counsel – Indirect Procurement in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of corporate agreements, including:
- IT agreements
- Non-disclosure agreements
- Security agreements
- Talent development agreements
- Procurement agreements
- Office equipment rental/purchase agreements
- This role requires a strategic legal mindset, strong contract management expertise, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and process optimization.
Eligibility
- Education: Law degree (J.D. or LLB) from a reputed Indian university.
- Experience: 5–10 years of broad legal experience in the construction, industrial, or energy sectors, with a strong focus on supply chain support, contract drafting, and negotiation.
- Expertise:
- Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a corporate setting.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of contract law in a business environment.
- Demonstrated ability in vendor agreements and prime contract flow-down drafting (preferred).
- Skills:
- Exceptional writing, research, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities.
- High level of professional ethics, integrity, and sound judgment.
