McDermott International, Ltd is hiring a Legal Counsel with 5–10 years of experience for its Gurgaon office.

Role and Responsibilities

• Align with the strategic vision of the Supply Chain Management (SCM) and Sustainability & Governance (S&G) teams.
• Oversee and manage Indian project-related claims, coordinating with Legal & Contracts Management teams.
• Develop and implement proactive legal policies to mitigate risks and safeguard the organization.
• Draft and incorporate prime contract flow-down requirements into vendor subcontracts, purchase orders, or existing MSAs.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and approve vendor purchase orders, supply orders, and subcontracts.
• Advise and support project managers and operations teams on vendor agreements with a focus on risk mitigation.
• Provide legal guidance and project management support throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Collaborate with the S&G and SCM teams to identify and implement process improvements for enhanced efficiency.
• Expand expertise and contracting knowledge within the SCM function.
• Work alongside SCM leadership to establish standardized vendor contracting processes across the global organization.
• Design and conduct training programs on supply chain contracts for SCM and contracts professionals.
• Assist the Legal Counsel – Indirect Procurement in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of corporate agreements, including:
• IT agreements
• Non-disclosure agreements
• Security agreements
• Talent development agreements
• Procurement agreements
• Office equipment rental/purchase agreements
• This role requires a strategic legal mindset, strong contract management expertise, and a proactive approach to risk mitigation and process optimization.

Eligibility

• Education: Law degree (J.D. or LLB) from a reputed Indian university.
• Experience: 5–10 years of broad legal experience in the construction, industrial, or energy sectors, with a strong focus on supply chain support, contract drafting, and negotiation.
• Expertise:
  • Proven experience as a Legal Counsel in a corporate setting.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of contract law in a business environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in vendor agreements and prime contract flow-down drafting (preferred).
• Skills:
  • Exceptional writing, research, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • High level of professional ethics, integrity, and sound judgment.
