Roquette is looking for a candidate for the position of Legal Counsel.
Role and Responsibilities
- Managing internal and Oversee legal compliances for all business operations and assets of Roquette India entities.
- Assist business functions on all legal matters in the day-to-day business including ensuring that contracts (both supplier and customer) of Roquette businesses in the country are fit for purpose and include appropriate protections for the businesses, including through the implementation of Group-wide policies designed to optimize and standardize contractual terms and mitigate contractual risk. Review, draft, and negotiate contracts.
- Support the Head of Legal India with the effective management of commercial disputes and litigation to which the businesses become involved including, where relevant, liaising with insurers and the effective reporting of such matters to relevant members of Legal and other key stakeholders.
- Drive and support Compliance initiatives for Roquette businesses in the country, working in conjunction with the Compliance team, where necessary, having responsibility for ensuring appropriate directives, policies, procedures, and training for the businesses in the region are generally in place, including, where applicable, the implementation of Group-wide directives, policies and procedures.
- Advise and support Roquette on Privacy compliance in the country, including being appointed as the Data Protection Officer where local laws require the appointment.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the activities of Roquette businesses and operations in the country and its clients in order to anticipate future risks and issues and provide updates to the Head of Legal India, compliance colleagues, and other key stakeholders where necessary to ensure that Roquette businesses in the country are prepared to respond to any such developments.
- Support the Group Company Secretary with the administration of legal entities in the region and the implementation and compliance with internal corporate governance policies, controls, and procedures.
- Provide ad hoc compliance and legal support, training, and advice to Roquette Group generally.
- Assist with new business, acquisitions, and/or disposals by the Roquette Group generally and specifically in relation to its businesses in the region.
- Review, update, and create precedent agreements and legal processes as needed and appropriate.
- Assisting in driving compliance with relevant laws and regulations for the business operations especially relating to environment and labor laws, Factories Act, and other manufacturing-intensive laws.
- Proficient in changes in the data privacy field and implementation of the new data privacy laws for the corporation.
- Experienced with digital / AI-related solutions and tools to provide better and quicker in-house legal services to internal clients including contract management, compliance trackers, contract life cycle management, etc.
Eligibility
- Law degree from a reputed law school.
- At least 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, with a minimum of 5 years working in a reputable law firm.
- Experience within the chemical/food/pharmaceutical / FMCG / healthcare/tech industry.
- A thorough knowledge of corporate and commercial laws and working knowledge of labor, environmental, and manufacturing laws.
- A high level of integrity and mature management skills.
- Ability to operate in an international and culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and deliver multiple projects under provided time frames.
- Ability to work in a matrixed environment and collaborate with internal stakeholders.
- A professional and commercial approach to problem-solving and a strong team ethic is essential.
