Shell Energy is hiring a Legal Counsel with 7+ years of experience to join their office in Gurugram.
Role and Responsibilities
- Autonomous Leadership: Operate independently with minimal supervision, taking the legal lead on complex, high-value, and strategic matters.
- Legal Advisory: Provide sound legal advice on a broad range of issues, including:
- Expansion of retail networks and real estate transactions
- Lubricant manufacturing, sales, and distribution
- Commercial contracting and procurement
- Foreign exchange compliance and transactions
- Employment law and workforce disputes
- Environmental regulations and compliance
- Litigation strategy and case management aligned with Shell’s evolving business priorities
- Business Partnering: Offer timely, pragmatic, and business-oriented legal guidance that balances commercial objectives with risk management.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders—across business units and functions—to deliver aligned legal support based on risk-value assessment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with legal colleagues in other departments and global/regional legal teams, ensuring cohesive and comprehensive legal coverage.
- Representation: Represent Shell in legal negotiations and interactions with external parties, safeguarding the company’s legal and reputational interests while maintaining the highest ethical standards.
Eligibility
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree.
- Minimum 7 years of post-qualification experience, primarily with reputed law firms.
Legal Acumen:
- Demonstrated ability to assess complex legal risks and craft strategic, commercially viable solutions.
- Proficient in delivering clear, actionable legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
Leadership & Judgment:
- Proven experience managing senior stakeholder relationships and influencing decision-making.
- Ability to prioritize and lead legal workstreams independently.
