Details of the Job/Internship

Tesco is hiring a Manager – Legal Counsel (Property) with 8–10 years of experience to support its UK non-contentious real estate work. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and review non-contentious UK property contracts such as leases, licences, rent deposit deeds, deeds of surrender, and NDAs.
• Conduct title due diligence and prepare reports.
• Coordinate with Tesco Property and Legal teams to ensure timely delivery of real estate matters.
• Deliver training for new joiners.
• Lead discussions with external law firms to share best practices and ensure efficient legal service delivery.
• Manage and update templates and playbooks.
• Create strategies to transition additional work to TBS.
• Download Land Registry documents and make applications.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team aligned with Tesco’s managerial expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance.
• Manage stakeholder expectations and escalate issues when required.
• Make decisions within established policies to achieve business goals.

Eligibility

• Law graduate with 8–10 years of experience in legal teams, including in-house or outsourcing environments.
• Strong background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Extensive knowledge of UK property law and related documentation.
• Experience in project management and legal in-sourcing setups.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• High emotional and cultural awareness to work with local and group stakeholders.
• Strong interpersonal and training skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
