Details of the Job/Internship

WPP is hiring a Legal Counsel with 5+ years of post-qualification experience to join their Mumbai office. 

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and advise on media services, creative content, IT supplier agreements, technology licences, data processing agreements, NDAs, and talent/influencer contracts.
• Provide regulatory and policy compliance advice, including data privacy and ePrivacy.
• Support deal-making for complex and innovative projects.
• Advise on governance, reputation management, IP, and copyright.
• Train and advise internal teams on risk, compliance, and relevant legal matters.
• Develop and implement contract templates and manage contract storage.
• Coordinate with WPP/GroupM counsel, external law firms, and auditors.
• Manage client litigation and oversee dispute prevention.
• Support GroupM-level legal initiatives and ensure compliance with data privacy practices.

Eligibility

• LL.B. degree with minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Strong communication skills to explain legal issues without jargon.
• Experience drafting contracts from scratch and from precedent.
• Ability to manage a fast-paced workload and deliver business-oriented legal solutions.
• Commercial thinker with problem-solving skills and ability to balance legal and business needs.
• Team player with strong collaboration, energy, and drive.
• Media/advertising contract experience desirable but not essential.
