Details of the Job/Internship

Motion Entertainment, a WPP company, is hiring a Legal Counsel with 5+ years of post-qualification experience to join their legal centre of excellence in Mumbai.

Role and Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate complex contracts including financing, co-production, development, and talent agreements.
• Review and advise on commissioning and distribution agreements with broadcasters and streaming platforms.
• Provide legal advice on production issues, including insurance, clearances, and contributor agreements.
• Support legal processes such as board approvals and contract execution.
• Conduct legal research on TV industry and IP laws.
• Maintain contract precedents and draft internal know-how guides.
• Liaise with external counsel when required.
• Promote best commercial and legal practices.

Eligibility

• Qualified solicitor in England & Wales or equivalent common law jurisdiction.
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification legal experience in media/entertainment sector.
• Strong understanding of international TV production and distribution.
• Expertise in commercial and IP law, especially copyright.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage diverse workloads across time zones.
• Collaborative, pragmatic, and commercially focused.
