ReliefWeb is hiring a Legal Counselor with at least 3 years of experience to join their office in Tal, Madhya Pradesh.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct legal awareness sessions on civil status, housing, land, and property issues.
- Explain documentation processes, procedures, and associated legal risks.
- Organize specialized awareness sessions for women, men, and children.
- Provide legal consultations and respond to individual legal inquiries.
- Support the team leader in updating the legal service mapping.
- Conduct legal research on administrative procedures and risks.
- Monitor, receive, and register cases requiring legal support or advice.
- Prepare weekly reports and contribute to data collection.
- Develop plans for implementing legal sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all cases.
- Adhere to child protection policies and principles of protection from sexual exploitation and abuse.
- Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor or project manager.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in Law.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in legal awareness and consultation.
- Familiarity with facilitation skills and case handling.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Email).
- Strong understanding of civil status laws and housing and land procedures.
- Awareness of social and economic issues impacting communities.
- Experience working with NGOs preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to diverse environments and maintain confidentiality.
