Details of the Job/Internship
First Citizens India is hiring for the position of Legal Director with 12-15 years of experience to join their office in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Governance
- Serve as the chief legal advisor to the India GCC leadership team, ensuring alignment with the organization’s global legal strategy.
- Provide clear and actionable legal guidance on regulatory and compliance matters affecting the business.
- Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory changes, advising on associated risks and compliance measures.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal business units to proactively identify and mitigate legal risks.
- Coordinate with global legal teams to ensure consistency in legal frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective legal support.
- Represent the India legal function in leadership forums and contribute to key strategic decisions.
Employment Law & HR Legal Support
- Advise HR and leadership teams on employment law, labor compliance, and workplace regulations.
- Support employee relations, including disciplinary matters, terminations, internal investigations, and restructuring efforts.
- Assist in shaping workplace policies to ensure legal compliance and organizational integrity.
Contracts Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide array of contracts, including vendor agreements, service-level arrangements, and MOUs.
- Provide legal oversight on outsourcing, technology transactions, and third-party engagements.
Dispute Resolution & Litigation
- Oversee and manage pre-litigation issues, disputes, and external investigations involving the India GCC.
- Engage with external counsel to develop and execute strategies for litigation and conflict resolution.
Intellectual Property & Technology Law
- Protect the organization’s IP assets, including trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, and proprietary technologies.
- Provide legal insights on innovation, licensing, tech development, and data-related risks.
Eligibility
- Education: LLB from a reputable law school; certifications in corporate or technology law are advantageous.
- Experience: 12–15+ years of experience in legal advisory roles with deep knowledge of corporate, labor, and commercial law.
- Demonstrated experience working within Global Capability Centers (GCCs), financial services, IT, or technology sectors.
- Strong track record in contract negotiation, cross-border legal compliance, and dispute resolution.
