Details of the Job/Internship

Onit India is hiring for the position of Legal Engineer to join their office in Pune. 

Role and Responsibilities

Legal Workflow Execution

• Structure and execute legal workflows for AI development in line with internal standards.
• Organize baselines and define research methodologies to support systematic legal operations.

Compliance & Reporting

• Support internal audits and maintain privacy statements, factsheets, and audit documentation.
• Assist with compliance tracking and documentation of legal risk in AI workflows.

Risk Assessment & Validation

• Conduct assessments of ethical, legal, and operational AI risks.
• Contribute to maintaining the AI risk registry and validating outputs for legal and regulatory alignment.

Trust & Safety Frameworks

• Monitor regulatory and legal developments in AI and integrate findings into internal trust and compliance frameworks.
• Proactively support initiatives to ensure responsible AI development and deployment.

Prompt Engineering & Legal AI

• Collaborate on the development and improvement of prompts used in legal AI applications.
• Support legal validation of AI-generated content.

Jurisdictional Legal Research

• Perform in-depth legal research on AI laws and regulations across jurisdictions relevant to product deployment.
• Provide concise, actionable insights to guide compliance strategies.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Partner with AI engineers, product managers, and compliance teams to ensure solutions are robust and legally sound.

Learning & Development

• Actively learn from senior legal engineers and develop expertise in legal AI operations, risk, and compliance.

Eligibility

• Required:
• Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) or experience in LegalOps or legal tech environments.
• Experience in legal matter management, spend management, or compliance processes.
• Strong research, documentation, and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work in dynamic, fast-evolving legal tech settings.
• Preferred:
• Familiarity with AI compliance, legal risk frameworks, or ethical AI principles.
• Experience with prompt engineering or validating AI outputs in legal contexts.
• Exposure to legal audits, privacy law, or AI regulatory regimes.
• Experience in client presentations or preparing compliance documentation.

Salary/Stipend
