River is an electric vehicle startup building multi-utility scooters. The company builds products ground up with a strong focus on design and engineering. Currently, the company is in the expansion stage with their factory being set up and getting ready for their vehicle delivery in August. River is a fast growing company with a team of 200+ right now and is backed by marquee international investors - these are mobility focused funds backed by some of the big names in the automotive industry.
- With 200 plus products delivered from Oct 2023, their primary objectives include achieving a positive gross margin for their flagship model, the Indie, expanding their presence to encompass at least 50 outlets, and attaining a production scale of at least 3500 units per month.
- A new lead investor, Yamaha has been added to their cap table and board, with $40 million investment alongside continued participation from existing investors with a total of $68 Million of funding.
Details of the Job/Internship
River is currently seeking a Legal Executive with 2 to 3 years of experience to join their team in Bengaluru.
Role and Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research on a variety of topics, including case law, statutes, regulations, and legal precedent, and provide summaries.
- Draft and review legal documents broad range of commercial transactions (incl. joint development agreements, Master Service Agreement, General supply agreements, non-disclosure agreements, Lease Deeds consultancy agreements, MOUs, etc.).
- Manage legal proceedings, including discovery, depositions, and court appearances, as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including counsel, and government agencies.
- Manage and coordinate due diligence efforts in connection with legal transactions and other business activities.
- Manage and organize legal files, including case files, contracts, and other legal documents.
- Prepare and file legal documents with courts and other government agencies, as required.
- Analyse, research and prepare documentations on a range of legal and regulatory issues (incl. corporate, commercial and contract law, Factories Act, licensing, corporate compliance, foreign investment, labour / employment, M&A, product liability, anti-trust etc.) on the above matters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to provide timely support as a team member on a wide array of regulatory projects.
- Willingness to identify and take up new tasks and be a team player.
- Passion to analyse legal aspects of new products related to the fintech space.
- Expertise in maintaining and periodically updating MIS trackers.
Eligibility
Qualification:
- The ideal candidate should be an independent, result-oriented, self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
- A law degree (LL.B.) from a reputed law school is essential.
Experience:
- Experience of 2-3 years in a legal department in an organization of a similar legal complexity or in a law firm.
