Details of the Job/Internship

Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur is hiring a Legal Fellow with experience of 2-5 years to join their office in Nagpur or Amravati.

Role and Responsibilities

• Provide legal representation and assistance to inmates in specified prisons.
• Draft and file bail applications, parole applications, appeals, and other legal remedies.
• Conduct legal counselling sessions, focusing on undertrial and women inmates.
• Coordinate with prison authorities, courts, and Legal Services Authorities.
• Maintain case records, perform follow-ups, and track legal outcomes.
• Mentor student volunteers who are engaged in legal aid activities.

Eligibility

• Graduation in Law (LL.B.) from a recognized university.
• 2-5 years of experience in criminal litigation, particularly representing accused persons in Sessions or High Courts.
• Registered member of the Bar in Maharashtra with a valid license and continuous practice.
• Experience with Legal Services Authorities or prison-related legal aid is preferred.
• Computer proficiency for legal drafting and documentation.

INR 30,000-40,000/-
