IAssess Consultants LLP is hiring for the position of Legal Head – Real Estate with 15+ years of experience to join their office in Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
- Strategic Legal Leadership:
- Lead legal oversight for transactions exceeding INR 500 Cr annually across land acquisition, joint development, leasing, and asset divestment.
- Title & Due Diligence:
- Conduct comprehensive title verification, legal due diligence, and risk evaluations for greenfield and brownfield developments. Advise CXOs and Board on legal feasibility and transaction strategy.
- Contract Negotiation & Documentation:
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents including sale deeds, JV/shareholder agreements, EPC contracts, and RERA-compliant buyer agreements.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with RERA, FEMA, SEZ norms, zoning laws, municipal and environmental regulations, and labour laws. Develop SOPs and internal audit trails to maintain legal robustness.
- Litigation & Dispute Resolution:
- Manage all civil, consumer, and commercial litigation and arbitration. Liaise with and guide external counsel to align legal strategy with business objectives.
- Team Development:
- Build and mentor a high-performing in-house legal team. Foster a culture of governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.
Eligibility
- LL.B. or LL.M. from a reputed law school.
- 15+ years of post-qualification experience in real estate law, including senior leadership roles.
- Deep expertise in RERA, land laws, stamp duty, registration, FSI norms, and development control regulations across multiple Indian jurisdictions.
- Proven ability to close high-value property transactions and mitigate legal risks.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills, including interactions with regulators, developers, PE investors, and community stakeholders.
- Experience in drafting and reviewing bilingual contracts (English + regional languages).
