Details of the Job/Internship

The Justice Initiative Foundation is seeking a passionate and experienced professional for the role of Legal Lead at their Bengaluru office. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization dedicated to justice, healing, and reconciliation, while leading impactful legal initiatives that make a real difference in society.

Role and Responsibilities

• This full-time Bengaluru-based role requires the Legal Lead to oversee legal matters, liaise with stakeholders, handle Bengaluru court processes, and build a legal network across Karnataka and the Supreme Court.
• Responsibilities include developing in-prison legal workshop modules, leading the Prison Statistics of India (PSI) Project with interns, ensuring timely RTI processes, conducting legal research, and maintaining an updated case database while flagging critical cases for intervention and support.

Eligibility

• A degree in law (LLB/LLM) with at least two years of relevant experience. 
• Strong coordination and liaison skills to manage multistakeholder interactions effectively. 
• A proactive approach to building and managing professional networks. 
• Experience or interest in designing educational workshops and modules. 
• Proficiency in legal research and familiarity with the Right to Information (RTI) process. 
• Excellent organizational and communication skills for maintaining detailed case records and presenting updates. 
• Willingness to take on fieldwork, including visits to prisons, courts, and other relevant institutions.
• Ability to converse in Kannada.

Salary/Stipend
