Details of the Job/Internship
Unimarks Legal is hiring for the position of Legal Manager – Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) with 6-10 years of experience to join their office in Chennai.
Role and Responsibilities
IP Portfolio Management:
- Manage and safeguard the company’s global IP portfolio, encompassing trademarks, copyrights, and patents.
- Conduct IP audits and develop strategies for effective IP protection.
- Coordinate with external counsel for filing, prosecution, and opposition matters.
Legal Advisory & Compliance:
- Provide legal advice on IP-related matters to internal teams.
- Ensure compliance with IP laws and regulations in both domestic and international jurisdictions.
- Monitor potential IP infringements and take appropriate action.
Litigation & Enforcement:
- Handle IP enforcement actions, including issuing cease & desist notices, initiating takedown actions, and managing customs recordations and litigation.
- Collaborate with external legal counsel for handling IP disputes and litigation matters.
Contract Review & Drafting:
- Draft, review, and negotiate IP-related clauses in contracts such as licensing agreements, NDAs, R&D agreements, and technology transfer agreements.
IP Strategy & Training:
- Develop internal policies and best practices for the protection and use of intellectual property.
- Conduct training sessions to raise IP awareness across the organization.
Eligibility
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LLB/LLM) from a recognized institution.
- Registered with the Bar Council or equivalent.
- 6–10 years of experience in IPR law, ideally in a corporate legal department or a law firm with an IP practice.
- Extensive experience in IP litigation, registration, licensing, and enforcement.
