Details of the Job/Internship
Birla Opus is looking for a candidate for the position of Legal Manager.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Statutory / Regulatory Compliances & Disputes (70% weightage):
- In depth and demonstrated experience of all the compliances applicable at manufacturing units such as Factory’s Act, BOCW, Environment Act, Health & Safety, Employment & HR, Legal metrology, Weights & measures, etc.
- Regular mapping of legal compliances, and implementation legal compliance tool across manufacturing units.
- Conduct periodic meetings with business teams, plan and execute compliance audit as per checklist, and guide team on updating check lists. Identify gaps in compliances and suggest solutions to internal stakeholders, implement action-plan for compliance in time bound manner.
- Demonstrated experience of managing manufacturing licenses, making amendments to existing licenses depending on business needs, adept in liaison with regulatory activities.
- Have prior experience in successfully closing manufacturing related disputes through legal / business strategies and excellent writing skills wrt opinions, written arguments, response to show case and legal notices, etc.
2. Contract drafting (20% weightage):
- Supporting business teams on drafting, vetting, negotiation and finalizing commercial / business contracts such as LOI, MOU, NDA, work & purchase orders, sales and purchase contracts, marketing contracts, legal notices, IT/Software/IP contracts, agency agreements, standard GTC, etc.
- Drive implementation of contract management system and other legal tools across business functions and units and guide peers in standardization of contracts.
3. Real Estate (10% weightage):
- Conducting diligence of potential properties for title /ownership clearances, mitigate risks in case of unclear titles; drafting lease deed/ leave and license agreement or any other transaction document, assistance in stamping, execution, and registration
- Working knowledge of reviewing / advising on property documents- revenue maps, jamabandi / saat barah, ownership docs, encumbrances, liaison with local officials, etc
- Drafting, negotiating, and concluding contracts with supply chain service providers including 3PL partners, transporters and C&FAs.
